The Story of Our Citroën 2CV
Our Citroën 2CV journey began in January 2020.
The car was purchased from a typographer in Kavala, Greece. What started as a humble acquisition soon turned into a labor of love and dedication.
The car first underwent a mechanical restoration as we were learning the intricacies of the 2CV’s unique engineering. Over countless kilometers of unforgettable road trips in Greece and Europe, the car proved its resilience and charm.
However, it wasn’t until late 2023 that we decided to take on the ultimate challenge: a complete disassembly and rebuild, restoring every single bolt and component.
Each part of the car was carefully inspected, restored, or replaced before being reassembled. Many components were sourced from specialized 2CV companies in Germany, France, and the Netherlands, ensuring the highest quality and authenticity.
Staying true to its heritage, the car was repainted in its original red Vallelunga color (EKB), preserving its iconic look.
The interior remains the original classic two-bench setup characteristic of the 2CV Special model, giving passengers an authentic vintage experience. Every detail of the restoration was carried out with precision and respect for this legendary car’s legacy, making it a true testament to craftsmanship and passion.
For the Car Enthusiasts
Underneath its charming exterior lies a meticulously restored engineering masterpiece. The car now rides on a new galvanized chassis, ensuring long-term durability. The original 602cc engine has been rebuilt with 9.0:1 high-compression pistons, paired with an electronic ignition system for improved performance and reliability. The braking system, the suspension, steering, and brakes have been entirely rebuilt with brand-new parts to restore factory-fresh responsiveness.
The restoration process included a part-by-part inspection to ensure every component was in top condition before being bolted back onto the car. Most of the components were replaced with new parts sourced from specialized 2CV suppliers in Germany, France, and the Netherlands, guaranteeing both authenticity and longevity.
The body underwent extensive restoration to eliminate rust, and it was repainted with the authentic Vallelunga Red color code, capturing the car’s original charm. New sound deadening materials were used during the assembly of the parts and a new wiring loom was installed, ensuring that every electrical component functions as if the car had just rolled off the factory floor.
All work—except for specialized tasks such as body rust repairs and the paint job—was completed personally, reflecting not only our passion but also our commitment to preserving this automotive treasure.
